help from the coin experts please re red back spider coin

Hi All, Found this coin a little while ago & finally got round to researching it a bit. Have noticed a few on ebay but in mint condition in sealed containers. Sadly mine is not in mint condition & is a bit banged up.

Just wanted to know if anyone can tell me if it is still collectable & roughly what it is worth.

Hard to say. These coins were not intended to circulate, or get roughed up. Generally, a mildly circulated proof coin will gain about 30 percent of the full catalogue value, but this coin's treatment seems worse than "mild circulation". You should get more than scrap silver value for it, but how much more is hard to say.

The other question is of course whether it's actually genuine or not. Counterfeiters often use pseudo-circulation damage to try to hide the defects in their lower quality fakes.
