selling gold

We had a topic "Scrap or repair ?" (use Search) some months ago where I gave my opinions on selling gold and gold jewellery. Nothing has changed my opinion in the interim - the price of gold has fluctuated (down) and I would DEFINITELY sell to Oz only. This is the sort of item that does attract the smarties who will try and rort the system - it is an awful lot easier to try and keep control when you sell only within Australia. That being said, any reputable auction house will get you scrap value (at least) for gold items and the fees you pay are not that much higher than combined eBay and PayPal fees. And they handle the stress, not you.

Places like cash converters etc offer per gram $9 for 9ct, $18 for 18ct ,$24 for 24ct however perth mint have a buy back and offer on the daily price of gold and its much better prices, for example todays prices are $14.98 for 9ct, $29.97 for 18ct , $39.95 for 24ct, so as you can see it is quite a difference, if you have mint in your state you would get better prices there. good luck

If you can get the kind of Perth Mint prices quoted I would definitely go for that. If you look at "scrap gold" completed prices on Oz eBay, it seems to me that by the time you take off the 12% odd (assuming casual seller) you are are paying for combined eBay and PayPal, then the Perth Mint prices quoted are very competitive. And a LOT less stressful.

I have just sent you a private message on where to go to get the best price if you are in Melbourne, better than the perth Mint 🙂

Thanks so much for your help. the barristers bill can be partially paid.  we noiw just have to get the AVO served on my friends ex.
