sending valuable jewellery interstate

Im not sure if this is the correct place for my enquiry but I was wondering if anybody knows of a safe method of sending jewellery interstate. I need to send an expensive item from Sydney to Queensland and don't like the thought of trusting it to Australia Post.

Thanks in advance for any help  🙂

I always use Australia Post. I insure for full value - so far in 11 years on eBay I have never had a Registered Post / Extra Cover parcel go astray. But you must do what you thoink best.

Australia post lost an antique bangle I bought a few years ago. It had been sent registered mail . They didn't know what happened to it. So beware it can happen.

Of course items can be lost - AP depends on humans and humans are fallible. But all postage systems depend on humans. At least if you have registered mail, insured (extra cover) for full value, you will be reimbursed. Apart from driving and handing it over yourself, there is no 100% foolproof way of ensuring delivery. If items are so important that they cannot be replaced, perhaps an interstate trip IS the answer.

AP lost a $200 bangle I sent from WA to QLD around Christmas 2011, it was registered and insured and they paid in full no problem.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I think the travel interstate and collect it myself is the way to go. If it was just monetary value

I would take my chances and insure with Australia Post, but there is huge sentimental value attached to the item and no amount of insurance can replace that.

If item is worth less than $1500 best is  www.fastway.com.au

I am confused, do you buy (you write 'I will collect it myself') or do you sell jewellery???

If you bought the item, you can always ask the seller to use the co. I refer you to above (Fastway) it is the cheapest and safest way to ship items worthless than $1500.

You can organize your own delivery with fastway couriers, they will charge more to pick up and deliver it to you, but the option exists.

Sorry for the confusion investorsartshop . I neither buy or sell jewellery, I am just looking for a safe way of getting an item valued in excess of $4000.00 from Sydney to Queensland and thought this might be a good place to ask the question.
