100 Days of broken promises, lies & deceptions

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/rort-fears-as-457-visa-loophole-reopened-20140...

The Abbott government has quietly reopened a visa loophole that will allow employers to hire an unlimited number of foreign workers under a temporary working visa, in a move that unions say will bring back widespread rorting of the system.

In the Coalition's bid to remove all ''red tape'' from the 457 skilled migrant visa, employers will not be penalised or scrutinised if they hire more foreign staff than they applied for.

Before the loophole was closed in 2013 by the Labor government, companies in the mining, construction and IT industries were knowingly hiring hundreds more foreign workers than they had applied for.

In one example, an employer was granted approval for 100 visas over three years, but in 18 months he had brought in 800 workers under the 457 visa.

Unions say the move, which was introduced on February 14, undermines Australian job security while deliberately reopening a loophole that can easily lead to the exploitation of foreign workers. ''It is reopening a rort for employers,'' said Dave Noonan, assistant secretary of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union.

and the constant harking back to the previous government on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on - obsessively. Will this go on for the entire term of this bunch of galah's? Is it to deflect what this bunch of fools are doing - oh look over there a graph, look over there it's Ms Gillard.

Breaks a promise to make no cuts to health by cutting $150 million from hospital and health services – 17 December 2013.

NSW will miss out on more than $150 million in funding for vital health services that has been cut by the federal government.

This is bad news for public hospital patients

People living in western Sydney will be hardest hit by the cuts, with Westmead Hospital losing $100 million over three years. The Children's Medical Research Institute and the Westmead Millennium Institute will also lose tens of millions of dollars, the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook released on Tuesday shows.

Scraps the Home Energy Saver Scheme which helps struggling low income households cut their electricity bills17 December 2013

AN energy-saving program helping households save more than $300 a year on their bills will be shut down a year early.

The Abbott Government will end the Home Energy Saver Scheme in June next year, with community organisations learning of the surprise move by letter this week.

Kildonan UnitingCare, which delivers the scheme in Victoria, says it is disappointed the decision comes at a time when cost of living is of such concern to most Australians.

The organisation gets about 650 calls a month from people struggling to pay their energy bills, with many about to be cut off.

Defunds the Public Interest Advocacy Centre whose objectives are to work for a fair, just and democratic society by taking up legal cases public interest issues17 December 2013

A total of $43.1 million will be cut from “legal policy reform and advocacy funding” over four years. The announcement was part of the Federal Government’s mid-year budget update, released this week, which forecast a $47 billion budget deficit.

Environmental legal centres are among those to have their funding cut. The government has cut about $10 million over four years pledged to the Environmental Defenders Offices (EDOs) by the former Labor government.

It will also end an annual payment, meaning the legal centres will not receive any federal funding after July 1 next year.

Defunds the Environmental Defenders Office which is a network of community legal centres providing free advice on environmental law - 17 December 2013

Without warning, a day ago, the Government ended all funding for the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO), a state and territory based network which specialises in supporting local communities fighting to stop mining and coal seam gas operations.

Axes funding for animal welfare17 December 2013

ANIMALS Australia has been stripped of government funding after a $1 million a year animal welfare program was axed in the Coalition’s Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) forecasts, announced on Tuesday.

The animal rights group played a central role in the former Labor government’s suspension of live cattle exports to Indonesia in June 2011. That temporary trade ban led to a $100 million government compensation package for graziers and associated businesses that suffered damage.

Prospects Woman LOL funny I can't find any mention of this in any actual news site - do you mean this

http://www.theage.com.au/national/qantas-workers-plan-street-marches-seek-public-support-20140330-35...

Qantas workers are planning a series of street marches that will block roads around the country as they fight against the airline's plans to cut 5000 jobs and send positions offshore.

At a rally near Sydney Airport on Sunday attended by about 50 workers and family members, Transport Workers Union national secretary Tony Sheldon said aviation workers were determined to fight for the airline, not against it.

"Our intention is not to dislocate travellers, but we will take whatever steps necessary into the future to make sure Qantas doesn't part-time our jobs," Mr Sheldon said. "And that includes civil disobedience as long as the public is prepared to stick with us."

It's a shame you can't provide facts to demonstrate how or why Gillard earns the Poor Me title you consistantly place upon her.  Is it so hard to address the female PM by name?

One speech about misogyny doesn't cut it as an excuse.
