Joe has had lap band surgery. He looked great yesterday at the Press Club but I think it will take a bit of getting used to.

He was advised to go that route because he has a very young family & a very stressful job.

Good on Hockey for looking after his health.  I think that this is a positive move and something that pollies need to be doing.  Looking after their health equals better performance so its great and a great example to the public.

Joe Hockey actually had a gastric sleeve operation, where they remove most of your stomach, and leave a little sleeve for the food to pass through.

I had it done in November 2011 because I had heard that it is an instant cure for Type 2 Diabetes.  In my case that proved to be true and I had had normal blood sugars with no medication since the day of my operation.

I also lost 30 kgs as a side effect of losing the diabetes.  ๐Ÿ˜„

I would thoroughly recommend this procedure to anyone, although its not an easy road to take, nor is it cheap. My out of pockets were about $10,000

I find the fact that he has been through this struggle reassuring that he understands the struggles of every day life for many Aussies....

I hope that his experience opens the door to more funding for this surgery for everyone else that needs it.

That's amazing surgery little stars.   Great that it worked so well

for you.  What a pity it's not available to all being the cost

that it is.

And good for Joe Hockey for having it done, a healthy pollie

is better than an unhealthy pollie (maybe???????)
