With the suggestion of a great big new tax

Betrayal is just so terrible, isn't it?

We’ll I’m a Liberal supporter and I’m prepared to weigh in.

My problem with Abbott is a simple.  He like his mentor, Howard believes that once elected, he, and he alone has the right formulae policy and make decisions, with the sole responsibility of his party members being to tow and support the Abbott line.

That is he believes at the last election we elected Prime Minster, in the same way as a last US election Obama was elected President.  He also believes that just as what happens in the US system, an elect prime minister has executive powers which allow him to make and implement decisions irrespective of whether those decisions have the support of the majority of members of parliament.

Therefore, as previously stated, as long as Abbott is Prime Minister and as long as his parliamentary colleagues refuse to demonstrate sufficient backbone to haul him back in line, I will continue to caste a protest vote by refusing to vote LNP

Your last sentence sums it up perfectly.

The PM can assume complete power, as noone around him is prepared to show any opposition to that stance.

And you know, I just don't get that, because he is not a strong man, aggressive maybe, but not strong in his personality.

He is fickle, he is waffling, he runs with the foxes and hunts with the hounds, he speaks before he thinks, he is definitely a mysoginist, he seems like an egomaniac to me, especially with the search for the missing plane, where he speaks of 'we' like he is out on the sea searching for it and has to speak for the searchers.

Hmmmm.  Do I see a leadership spill in the future?

I hope so.   MT is the antithesis of TA.

i hope not. Mals charisma would cover a multitude of sins, he could be as big a bleep as abbott and charm his way through. he's proven to be a gifted liar.. the NBN as a case in point , hopefully the right will put someone else forward.

You're right, he willfully lies about the money spent on the project so far by doubling the amount then adding some and he just laughs at and gets nasty with those who challenge his claims.

In-between the standard pink hand holding feel-good threads that obviously do little to assuage the persistent PPTSD,  does anyone  consider that  it would be advisable to reduce the budget deficit?   If so, how?   if not, why?

possibly. it isn't the be all and end all the drama queens in the LNP make it out to be. Spending some revenue is actually rather productive .. austerity for its own sake makes litttle sense. it doesn't increase productivity or employment. better to invest in  citizens than deprive them chasing a perfect set of numbers for what end ? the benefit is unclear .
