Aboriginal flag at Parliament House.

I am not a Labor voter, but I am liking Daniel Andrews more and more.

The Australian Aboriginal Flag is flying permanently from the top of Victoria’s Parliament House.

Aboriginal elders, members of parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Victorians from all walks of life attended a flag raising ceremony at the front steps of Parliament House.

Aunty Caroline Briggs of the Boon Wurrung opened proceedings with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony.

Speeches recognising the significance of the event were delivered by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Telmo Languiller, President of the Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson, Premier Daniel Andrews and Leader of the Opposition Matthew Guy.

The Australian Aboriginal Flag was then raised onto one of the three flagpoles on Parliament House to fly forever alongside the Victorian and Australian Flags.

Yesterday, he said, in regards to the flyinh of the flag, that it is never too late to do the right thing. That is a philosphy that other politicians could adopt.
