Act, belong, commit

I am not sure which brain dead bureaucrat. Came up with the idea that acting belonging and committing was good for your mental and physical health but after 30 years of sitting on at least three committees a year I personally think if this is true then my mental and physical health would be totally stuffed had I not been volunteering.

Ahh I know what the problem is!

I forgot to say that the volunteering was at my local church & political party!!!!!!!!
Either that or a discussion on the merits of being a volunteer is just not controversial enough to bother talking about.

I have done a lot of volunteering in the past, some good some bad and it's a worthy

topic but I'm not sure what is the point you are exactly making in the  OP.

Act , belong commit is an ad that runs in wa saying acting belong& committing to volunteering is go for your well being
I think it's the opposite

Act, belong, commit

I suspect it can be detrimental to your well being eventually.

I Agree with you both.  If it's a job that you look forward to going to and know you

are helping and will be appreciated then it's good.  But if you're treated like the hired help

by the paid workers which often happens then get out of there.

You're not being paid, they are,

it's your time so you should be valued.   I've had both types of voluntary work -   those where you are

'valued  and it's feelgood all round,   or those where you are not valued in any way, and  I know which ones

I'd never do again.
