Adam Goodes Vs the spreaders of hate

We have people spreading the hate for everyone from the PM to the disabled and refugees everyday.

Today we have Adam Goodes, who truly lived up to his name.

For people to take this comment so out of context in light of the overall discussion says a lot really. It tells me that people are failing to see the big picture in this sorry debate. And are spending their time nitpicking in order to deflect away from the reality.

I see the opposite. I think that comment is going right to the heart of the matter.

People are being accused of racism for booing. Something thats been done at sports for centuries. We are now told booing is racist because one player has taken offence and he perceives it a racism. If thats the case, why is you cant see that caling a young girl huge would almost definitely be perceived by her (and in fact most people) as being not just an insult but a crushing blow to her self esteem. Body image is an enormous issue with young girls and frankly I'm surprised that you of all people cant see how hurtful and possibly damaging a comment like that can be. Unlike  Goodes she doesnt have any securtiy guards hanging around to call you out on your insult, nor does she have the backing of the media to splash you all over the newspapers for public shaming and a social media bullying campaign. She's just had to tough out the public shaming herself, the poor girl probably still cries herself to sleep every night. But thats ok I suppose, cos she a racist.

If people hope to convince the masses that booing (or anything else) is racist because of how the booed person perceives it, then you probably should be choosing your words more carefully when you are talking about others.

Here's my 2 cents worth. I've always considered bigotry and racism is based on intent. Unless you're a mind reader you have no argument. A person being called by 2 different people can have different meanings.

 Australian of the year is suppose to bring people together. Goodes is clearly not achieving that. I have no doubt there're plenty of racist booing. But whinging about it isn't going to get you support. Goodes needs to set an example by doing something positive and to prove he is a better person.

Let's not deluded ourselves. She's big girl. How many people thought she was 13 yr when they saw her get taken out. ZERO. There's your definition of huge.

Just another point. Aboriginals do not have anywhere the stigma and bad press as in say QLD or NT compare to melbourne. So booing in Melbourne is more likely for someone being a whinger than because of their race.

Lets put aside the how big the 13 year old girl was or whether or not she knew her comment was racist. In fact, lets even forget about the booing. Lets talk instead about the racism directed at Goodes 2 weekends ago .

Not one non-Goodes supporter person has said "The person who told Goodes to 'go back to his zoo' should be ashamed of themselves". Nor has any one of these people admitted that this (this time said by a grown man) was a racist comment. An uncalled for comment. A degrading comment.

One that appears to have been the final straw for Goodes.

Yep. Keep on blaming the victim. Cause he deserved that doesn't he? Because of his "beahviour". Because he is a "sook".

It is easier to blame the victim than admit that many Australians are racist isn't it?
