Novels may be novel, sci fis take can fly you to the moon, and even history books can open the door to days of yore.
In this age of electronic media, do you find your escape in books, or by other means?

Well in this one, the mother and daughter watch over this pond. They're constantly watching over it against intruders wanting to take their water. Anyone that comes near is summarily shot. They rob the bodies of clothes, ammunition.
It's some sort of post-apocalypse I haven't got to yet,
The water is contaminated, but they haul it up by buckets and purify it by letting it sit on sheets of steel in the sunshine.
They have to be on the constant alert against Dingos while they go about their tasks of survival.
There's no cats in this story lol.
Bloody good book, one of those stories that grabs you on the first page and doesn't let go til the last.
