Aged Care Planning

I asked on here ages ago about this as I had no idea what was entailed in getting an aged care bed. I got lots of helpful advice and gave it all to the people involved...who did nothing with it.:|

I asked them to at least find out where and at what stage the person wanted the placement. They didn't.

So, last week and this week, I am arranging it all, despite having no legal rights to do so. My OH and his older sister are the Guardians but circumstances prevent them from doing the actual work involved.

There are over 150 pages of info and around 50 pages that need to be read and signed, witnessed, scanned and emailed. (by tomorrow)

I have to go out but bb later.

Please don't wait too long if you need to do this.... the earlier the better. Make lists of things needed, bank accounts, health, pension numbers, etc etc.

Thanks, Az.

Another important Centrelink publication is this one:

http://guidesacts.fahcsia.gov.au/guides_acts/ssg/ssg-rn.html

It's also a great resource.  Last time I looked at it, though, it was out of date.  The earlier link might also be a bit old ... I'm not sure if the link gets updated automatically or if it stays at the same date from when I saved it as a favourite.  Anyway, be aware that the information may have changed.

The key areas for you to think about with your FIL are assets and income.

Thank you!

I am almost at the end of this lot. I scanned and emailed a huge pile this morning, asked the person to check to ensure all was there... with great confidence I had not missed anything......;-)

only to get a call back that I had missed 24 pages of consent forms. ๐Ÿ˜ I have just completed them for OH to sign. Also, she emailed me a form for Person Responsible, for OH to nominate me /authorise me. ๐Ÿ™‚ to deal with basic housekeeping stuff.

Now to scan and email them.

They need to invent a way to sign them online.

It's a stressful task, Az.  Don't feel "stupid".

Don't feel stupid, you are under stress.    Stress and being tired can make you forgetful.  One shift at work I couldn't remember my sign in codes on the cash register, the same one I've been using for nearly 5 years
