Annoying telemarketers how do I block them permanently?

I've been getting the same annoying telemarketer ringing my mobile regularly between 5.30 and 7.30pm. They claim to be my bank and want me to verify to them WHO I am??? wtf.. They are ringing me and I have to verify to them...a bit odd I thought.  Anyways how do I put them on the blocked list, I've got a samsung galaxy phone s2. do I block it on the phone somehow or do I have to ring my phone company, anyone know?

If they are claiming to be from your bank, explain you won't verify who you are to unknown person. If they are really from your bank they should give you a number you can call them back on.

I have been called by my bank when they wanted to confirm that it was me that made an international trf on my account. They wanted me to identify myself first. I asked them to give me a number to them back on as I couldn't be sure who they were. I did call them back.

It isn't debt collectors calling you by mistake is it? They are very persistent and want the person who answers the phone to verify who they are.. name, DOB etc.

I was called by these people in error recently.

I would ask them for their full names and that of their company as they have breached your privacy and you want to lodge a formal complain with the Federal Government Privacyy Act.

That usually stops them.

They rang because they had a special offer for me but before they could disclose the offer, I had to be verified. They wanted to know all my details but I said to them that I will not tell anyone over the phone anything about my financial position no matter who it is. I told them that if they want to make me a special offer they should do it when i go in person to the bank. I've told them countless times that there is no point ringing me about banking because i will not discuss it over the phone but they keep ringing me.

 banks do do it, we had Westpac ring here constantly  trying to do the same thing but when they say who they are I ask is this about such and such they says yes then I tell them how fed up I am of them calling when I have clearly stated before I am not interested.

ufo - can you phone your bank and ask to be taken off their marketing/phoning list? They should not be making calls to you if you told them you don't want them.

I called Telstra and asked them not to take our number off their calling list for offers. I was a past customer of theirs. The calls stopped.

I have a another card with a different bank that I hardly ever use and they phone sometimes with special offers (which I am not interested in). They do not ask me to verify my details first though.

I haven't called my local bank but yes that is a good idea I'll try that in the morning and ask them to remove me from the call list.

It is weird that they wanted me to be verified first about a special offer, it is not as if the offer was made just for me I'm sure they would have rang plenty of people about the same offer. They said because of privacy I had to be verified first.

... I get annoying calls ALL the time *sigh*...but now all I do is answer the call, but I don't speak! NOT ONE WORD!  (or let them hear you blowing your nose, they like that! 😄 )

I just want them to pay for the call.

They usually hang up soon after that. B-)
