Another bit of Australia to be sold to China???

NSW Premier and our Treasurer must have some screws loose. They want to lease 50.4% of Australias largest Electricity producer to Chinese conglomorations for 99 years. All they can see is $$$$$$$, but how long will those Dollars last or of what benefit for the Australian people?

Many years ago a friend of mine had a conversation with a Chinese gardener. He asked why China had not invaded Australia during the last war? The Chinaman told him; "We don't have to fight you. we just buy everything and in the end Australian peole will work for us and by our rules.

It sounded like a joke in those days. Now I am not so sure anymore.

I think its all quite terrifying, China is getting more aggressive every day ,their state media is running down and threatening Australia constantly and yet our goverment is selling us out to them at a frightning rate.

100 year leases are just insane look how our enemies and allies have changed over that time.

You are right. 100 year lease is as good as selling outright.

Those imbeciles politicians won't be here in a 100 years, and they don't even care about their own grandchildren and what will hapen to them.

I told my great-grandchildren to better learn Mandarin and be fluent in the language, because they will need it by the time they leave School or Uni.

Bloody Idiots on all sites sitting pretty in Camberra just to ruin a country for their own benefits.

Wish I was younger.

I would cause the biggest stink in Camberra.

i realize the water supply is huge but has anyone looked into what could be grown there? i mean water and dirt alone doesnt mean you can grow things. many other things need to be right. soil needs to be fertile. the air temp during the day needs to not mean plants get burnt to a cinder.

i'm sure if these companys are buying propertys with the idea of growing things they have done some homework. id just like to know what it is.

btw cant read the story as it links to a pay to view page for me.
