Parents get told to move out of cafe after baby screams the house down and get all huffy. This is a good companion piece to the breastfeeding mother one.

I think both men were at fault here, he should have spoken to the staff who should have asked the parents to either leave or offered assistance. No necessity for rudeness from the parents either.

I think it's all about having respect for other people.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Az, I think the point is, the first man should not have had to speak to them at all. When the parents realised child was not going to calm, they should have left voluntarily. If I want to go to a cafe and listen to screaming kids, Ill go to one that has a play centre attatched. Otherwise, Id like my coffee in peace thankyou.

Some of the comments below the story are interesting.  I particularly like the one that says

Two take away coffees and a playground. Solved. How parents think that children enjoy cafes as much as adults them is beyond me.

I'm over selfish parents who think others can block out the sound of a continuous crying/screaming baby/toddler.

They might be able to enjoy a meal and carry on a conversation over the top of it because their usual response is to ignore it.

The parents should have taken the baby out of the cafe if they couldn't control the crying after 5 minutes. I used to do that if my baby or child was screaming the place down.

And if the child is over 18 months watch The Super Nanny and start learning how to bring up a well behaved child! X-(

I agree.... however, there is no way that I would ever approach a parent in any public space (restaurant/pool/shop ) to give my input into their child raising.

I sometimes offer my help to a frazzled parent in a supermarket.  I have a gift for settling babies when their parents cannot.  Often parents keep babies out when they should be asleep at home, and if they are distressed, it is not the babies' fault.

But in this case, the parents seem to be a bit bogan, so I would not approach them.

The staff at the cafe should have intervened and no one else.

It is not up to the patrons to ask/tell people what to do with their children, but the staff should have handled it.

the two issues really cannot be compared, one is governed by legislation, the other issue in the OP, is governed by a cafes own policies and management decisions.
