Another one of those kitchen appliance threads

My dishwasher broke down over a year ago and I just never bothered to replace it.  I don't mind washing the dishes by hand but it is missed at times like Christmas and when you are doing a lot of food preparation for an occasion.

Anyway, I've been instructed to get a new one before the ex gets back next time.  The poor dear doesn't like to sit there and watch me wash the dishes 😄

I really like the idea of the dishdrawer type but only the Fisher and Paykel one is available here and some of the reviews are not good.  Does anyone else have the dishdrawer or can anyone recommend one that is really easy to load and does a good job?

I just bought a smeg about 6 weeks ago, it was rated better by choice than the asko which was $1000 more. Extremely happy with it, cleaning is perfect and the cutlery rack is great. Very silent too.

I have the same story with my dishwasher. Miss it heaps but managed only because of a diminishing household.

Now the wall oven has carked it!! Watching with interest.

I'm not keen on LG appliances either Boris.  Bosch is a good brand but I don't want to just pay for a name.  Have you heard good reviews about theirs?

The one I'm replacing is a Smeg, Donna.  Not that I'm knocking it.  It did last a few years and did a good wash and was quiet but after a couple of years the wheels kept falling off the trays and all the plastic bits were breaking.  I suppose it lasted about 8yrs all up.

It was pricey too.  I think the Bosch one might be a little bit cheaper.  My washing machine is Asko.  Good machine but it's haunted now.  It starts up when no one is anywhere near it.

Bosch parts are hard to source and expensive. Well according to my boss who runs and maintains apartments.

Bosch is definitely good too my daughter has one but reckons mine is better - probably because it is newer.

I would avoid the cheap brands.

I find that hard to believe.

Why is that Joz?  He even brought around a pub tradie the last time he was here.  Jack of all trades.  The guy turned up at ten in the morning with a can of beer in his hand and didn't know how to turn the dishwasher on.
