The tragic story last week of the father who forgot to take his baby into the child care centre, thus leaving him in the car for the whole day, on returning to pick his son up he was informed he was never dropped off. The baby didn't survive. I feel so so sorry for this father and the family. Most people would say I would never do that, but everyone these days is multi tasking and has so much going on anything is possible. Police said a good idea is to place your purse/keys/briefcase next to your baby/child in the backseat so this type of thing doesn't happen. Apparently it happens quite often in the USA. We all need to slow down, take stock of what we are doing and what is really important in this life. Life is fragile. Sympathies to the family and bless the little one.

Distracted because they are too busy or just other things on their minds.
Some mothers years ago would leave their newish baby in a pram outside the local shop when they went in and then forget to take the baby home. They wouldn't be 'busy' as working parents today.

Heart breaking, that poor family.
I was listening to some idea's about avoiding this happening.
1) was for women to leave their handbag on the back seat next to the child.

baby brain? I think people are too busy Am*, there was a vice principal in USA that did exactly the same thing, wasn't her role to take the baby to the creche but on this particular day hubby had a meeting, the baby fell asleep, the mother had work on her mind, in a hurry to pick up donuts for a meeting, got out the car and didn't remember until late in the afternoon when she heard the commotion. too late. I walked past a creche today, little toddler about 12 months playing on her own, broke my heart actually, I know some mothers have no choice and some do and it is everyone's right, but for me, my baby's were home with me or family, I guess I was lucky.
