Get a job and get off the dole.
That would be an ideal solution but there is a slight catch.
May 2017 189,000 total job vacancies
May 2017 729,000 registered unemploed.

Maybe it's too late in the day but I am not sure exactly what you mean by...
"I have said it for decades, we need some to step out of the opportunities.
Makes it easier on the system if some are unemployed."

Sorry Kopenhagen5.... the penny just dropped...or rather my comprehension kicked in.

Great idea. Maybe just the threat of sniping would do the trick.
The smoke and mirrors effect is starting to wear off.

We should be thankful some are prepared to take unemployment benefits only.
It would be better if those businesses which are doing very well, thank you, would invest more of their profits in employing more people rather than just pocketing their profits.
Of course it's "easier on the system" to maintain a large pool of unemployed, as those unemployed folks are still consumers, propping up prices while at the same time acting as a brake on rising wages.
We should be wary of giving our thanks to a system which degrades our environment and plunges people into povery just so that an elite few may live a life of luxury which is beyond the imagination of, let alone the attainment of, the workers they so cruelly exploit.

I know. It's ridiculous.
They keep privatising our industries and services, infrastructure project to foreign companies who snap them up for the bargains they are. Who bring in their own workers for the cheaper labour.
Our governments would need to renationalise our industries and agencies, and invest in infrastructure like fast rails and water pipelines to create jobs before they can get ppl off the dole and back into the workforce. It would take a huge retraining effort to get 3rd and 4th welfare recipients back into the work ethic.
Specially if they're going to keep bringing in thousands of migrants into the country.

It's hard to believe that the government(s) of our land could not see the current situation coming.
Were they blind, stupid or in cohersion ( willingly or no ) with big business ?
