for science? cosmetics or others?
Do you differentiate between what animal being tested is acceptable to you?

animals have always been used for guinea pigs (maybe that will make monmans blooper thread) but no i dont 'support it' and i doubt many people actually do.. they are more likely to try and avoid knowing how this kind of testing is carried out.

Very against it and try to avoid products that use or are associated with animal testing, but this can be difficult as few companies want you to know that they practise animal testing. Totally unnecessary for cosmetics etc. maybe for science and medical their could be an argument for but I would definitely prefer they found alternatives.

Sorry - premature posting then lol!
Meant to say -
It's not a popular thing to say but I agree with animal testing. The 3 things I mentioned in the last post are just some of the areas where medical breakthroughs have occurred thanks to animal testing. Lots more of course but those are the 3 things that spring to mind.

AGAINST
I choose animal testing free cosmetics. They are getting easier to find in the supermarket now. I used to buy shampoo's and conditioners from the chemist who carry a line of products but I can find a few options in the supermarket now.
As for medical testing the lines are blurrier but I would obviously prefer they find alternatives too.

I think that's the problem with the issue - people automatically associated animal testing with cosmetics. Animal testing has bad press because people associate it with vanity.
But the vast majority of animal testing is done to discover cures for serious medical conditions.
Most people on these boards have vaccinated their children against illnesses that would have killed them not that long ago. Most of these illnesses have been eradicated because of cures tested on animals. What other choice would you have? Would you have children tested instead to determine cures? Would we better off without the vaccinations?
