Hard pressed to find decent brooms in shops these days. I remember the millet brooms being a staple in homes but you don't see them about as much any more.

"About 42 years ago, Mr. Grace married Miss Rebecca Argent, of the Macleay.
There is a family of five boys and two girls. Of the former, Master Frank, who is his father's right hand on the farm, has proved himself to be not only a most ingenious, but a most industrious young man.
Not satisfied with the ordinary farm work that he has to compass, he devotes all the time he can spare to manufacturing brooms, for which purpose he has invented one or two machines.
The millet is grown on the farm. Many and many a prize young Mr. Grace annexes at the different Shows within reach.
His brooms are in such demand that he very often finds a difficulty in executing the numerous orders that flow in from stores and housewives "
