This is heartbreaking... what kind of kids are we raising when they think it is ok to make practical jokes like this.. I bet the young victim isn't laughing at this joke...
These kids that did this attack need to be taken out the back of a police station and given a good old fashioned hiding before going to jail for a very very very long time... And their parents need to be forced to pay compensation to this young man forever... X-(

I agree with you Martini. The whole story has been handled in a Current Affairs-ish way right down to the set up of the photos that have been used. Journalists should learn when to back off.

I think it was way more serious than a practical joke, a practical joke generally isn't meant to deliberately harm someone. I think this was intentional, the kid was a known bully, and had bullied the other kid before.. He knew it was a bomb and knew exactly what would happen, these are teenagers not 10 year old kids..

I agree patchoo, no way it was a practical joke, they knew that a homemade bomb could seriously hurt someone. I think they are thugs and I hope the full force of the law is thrown at them if its found they did this with the intent to cause harm.
There needs to be a strong message sent out to the community that this kind of behavior won't be tolerated.

So now this incident happened in the boys own backyard? The story changes with every news article published.

I suppose there is not much to go on, given they are dealing with 15yo boys and some of them won't be eager to tell the truth, the mum is now calling for attempted murder charges.
It is really horrible for him to lose his hands though, regardless of fault.

It is interesting Martini and now it seems that you were exactly right in post number 12.

The news last night stated that the uninjured boys involved aren't interested in talking to police.
