Azita Bokan witnessed violent assaults on Manus Island
Now what has to be established is, is it a factual account or not.
As always people jump to conclusions without examining facts.

A bit like the "shoot to kill" and "killed with a machete" statements

You seem to be jumping to as many conclusions as anyone. Have you read what Azita has to say about the events?
She was there and doesn't appear to have any reason to tell lies about what happened.

It is equally likely that it could be either.

"Azita Bokan witnessed violent assaults on Manus Island" Really DY, so why did she say this in an interview:
Ms Bokan says she did not witness the violence, but was in the area where the injured were taken, and was told injuries were caused by machetes, knives, rocks and table legs. '
So she did not witness the "riot" and was told how the injuries were caused!!, then later she declares: detainees threw fruit and plastic chairs and the G4S guards retaliated with rocks and steel table legs." and " locals entered the centre after detainees had pushed down a fence within the centre." All this she did not see?
Bolkan was on Manus for only a week, and has been suspended (fired?) for acting outside of her role as just an interpreter and also this: "Ms Bokan said she was not allowed to speak to the media under the terms of her contract , but could not remain silent."
So losing her job for breaking her contract would be standard, and her utterances about what she has not witnessed could well be suspect, as possibly her motives.
For you B1G this interesting past media article"

KEVIN Rudd has vowed to send all new asylum-seekers to Papua New Guinea The Prime Minister said he would impose the changes as soon as possible as he signed the agreement with the promise that there be no cap on the number of asylum-seekers being sent to PNG's Manus Island detention centre.

You are mistaken Donna.
But unlike most people, I prefer not to believe everything I read or hear. Like the very emotive address to Parliament by Craig Thompson just to mention one incident.

Its absolutely disgusting, disgraceful and a blot on this country the way we treat people who are seeking asylum, it's filthy and it will take a long time for our reputation to recover - what a shameful mob we have become.
