Bali 9 duo are being moved to an island in central Java

Didn't they know how much pain this would cause their mothers? Dealing with drugs just isn't worth it.

One of the best media campaigns I have seen in the last few weeks.

I don't like the way they are dragging up the AFP all the time.

I do wonder how many who oppose this still go to Bali on holiday ?

Bali is very susceptable to a drop in tourists.

What I find so sad about it all, is not that they have been dealt the death sentence, but that the Bali Authorities have dragged their cases out for ten years.

Ten years is a long time for a young idiot to change his life, attitudes and expectancies. They know now that trying to get rich quick by dealing in drugs is so very wrong. They have changed and for them and their families it is a bitter time to pay for a crime they now deeply regret.

Everyone knows that being caught dealing with drugs in that country could cost ones life. I believe Bali courts should act quickly and execute the perpetrators as soo as possible after the sentence has been handed down, not giving them hope of a possible release or the sentence to be commuted to life in prison. That would be a greater deterrant for all future drug dealers that think they may get away with this kind of crime.

Just my humble opinion.

Erica

Look. Yes they were fools. In hindsight.

But they thought they were going to make money and get a free holiday and maybe make it up the ladder to being big players in the drug market.

Well they got busted.

Yes their years in jail has made them aware of how precious life is.  Theirs, mainly. Never mind about the lives destroyed through drugs. We don't talk about that.

Indonesia executes drug smugglers. It's well known they do. No doubt many slip through the cracks.

This lot didn't.

The hierarchy in this particular drug smuggling ring will see it as collateral damage.

Sukamaran and Chang should be grateful they've had a few years stay of execution to repay their debt to society and be content in the knowledge they did it well. They did, no question.

Time to man up and face your destiny. Nobody lives forever.

lind

in theory that is great, but they have their long winded appeal process they have to go through.

Their would be even more outrage if they didn't get appeals.

I can't help  thinking the anti death penalty  lot are very lucky its only 2 of those 9 being executed, the amount they were carrying it could well have been the lot of them .None of them were addicts themselves as far as I know  so it was just greed

A man police suspect was a mastermind of the Bali nine drug importation is living a life of luxury in Sydney while two junior members of his syndicate, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, await the firing squad in Bali.

The man's lavish lifestyle is funded by a multimillion-dollar lottery pay out, which he won about the time the two young Australians, who acted as the local leaders of the syndicate in Bali, were being sentenced to death.

Former senior police sources said the man has previously been the subject of police drug trafficking investigations. He is believed to have halted his criminal activities after he quite literally won the lottery.

He is described in police intelligence reports as being suspected of high-level involvement in the syndicate that supplied the drugs carried by the Bali Nine mules. The syndicate is likely to have previously imported drugs into Australia.

The man now lives in Sydney and has escaped prosecution for any of his suspected criminal activities. He is believed to have won well over $5 million in the lottery several years ago, after the Bali nine members were arrested.

The extraordinary luck of the man underlines the rarely spoken reality of drug busts: those arrested are usually mid- to low-level players. More senior syndicate members ensure they are not hands-on and continue to traffic drugs once a courier or shore-party is arrested.
