NEWCASTLE Knights NRL footballer Ryan Stig has received backlash from angry social media users following a controversial rant about homosexuality and gay marriage.

The half-back uploaded a letter on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter that compared homosexuality to alcoholism and a "politically correct charade" that was equal to a "spiritual disease" and "demonic".

OMG Not the resident athiest again. Jethro where are you, instruct this one immediately. As for the gay marriage debate,  I know they don’t want a conscience vote in parliament, just don’t have the numbers, that’s why the labor states are going for it but it will not pass in  the high court.
