Benefits of Youtube

Many dismiss Youtube as nothing more than a way to waste time watching music videos and whatnot.  To me it's been a Godsend, enabling me to learn the right way to do various domestic chores, like replacing the starter (twice) on my Saturn, teaching me how to put a finish coat of texture on drywall, locate such mundane things as a fuel filter on a Honda Civic, replace one of those $110 HD bulbs on my SAAB, and this morning, after I discovered that my garage door opener was toast, what parts to order and how to install them properly........

How has Youtube proven to be an asset to you?

Benefits of Youtube

Where to start lol

I learnt how to make vietnamese combination with crispy noodles that was yum. Re learnt how to increase the row in a knitting line.  How to change the screen on a nexus 7 tablet. How to make lipstick with coconut oil, and non toxic crayons. It's a treasure trove it really is. Not to mention all the amazing documentaries (some of which are a waste of the 20 mins or however long they run but others have been life changing...)

Really who needs free to air tv when you have the internet with video sites and all the channels that are on free to air.

I went to youtube to learn how to filet a fish. Also for a recipe for Marmalade. I think it's an excellent site!

Benefits of Youtube

Bought a few craft items, had no trouble mastering the basics but I found more advanced ways to use them on YouTube.

Also...I had taped an old 78 record on a cassette yonks ago....and somewhere in the ensuing years the notebook that listsed all the tapes was lost.  It was an instrumental (piano and organ) of the song Perfidia.  Do you know how many versions of Perfidia there are?  Probably thousands!  But one day I did a search and someone had uploaded 'my' version on YouTube.  The artist was Ben Light.  I've now got it on CD but eventually I think I will get a version on vinyl if possible.

There's also music from movies that never made the movie's soundtrack.
