The James Bond myth is that martinis should be shaken not stirred but a perfect martini is never shaken as it disturbs the molecules of the gin and it doesn't taste the same.
An award winning barman taught me the tricks of the trade, he was the Marco Pierre White of the cocktail world.

The thing about some of the references in the Bond books, is that he would know stuff like The Wine to have, but be off on the year. Little jokes like that. Maybe the gin was one of them 🙂

From memory, I believe the Bond in the books would drink both vodka, or gin martinis.
first mentioned in the movies in Goldfinger...shaken not stirred. Until the best line in Casino Royale

"do I look like I give a *d a m n*?" lol but a real martini is gin based.
