I have been asked to draft a business plan for an organisation I am a member of. We are start to do some major fund raising and need the plan to show areas when we are applying for grants or donations.
I need to know what sort of information I need to put into the plan.

There are templates for plans on one of the government websites. I can't remember which one off hand, but it would relate to grants and NFP funding so do a search or browse in the info section of the NFP grants pages.

Mmmm. I was thinking similarly, Jean.
A sporting group that I was associated with, was fortunate to have legal and accountancy people within our midst and offered their services.
Of course, it was "advertising" for them, as group member/participants often sought the professionals for their personal queries as necessary.

They probably shouldn't have asked you to do a Business Plan if you don't have any experience or training in preparing one.
Some useful advice in this website
http://www.fundingcentre.com.au/help/fundraising-strategy
Before you can accept any payments, you need to make sure you have the right administrative systems in place. You’ll need to be able to record and receipt all of your income, and ensure you can keep track of how, when and by whom it is being spent. In most cases, you’re going to have to report on that later.
When making an appeal for public funds there are certain laws you must abide by. There are different rules for each state and territory applying to different methods of fundraising and different types and sizes of organisations. These rules are separate from the tax and incorporation laws that you are also obliged to observe.
There may be other laws as well.

am3.......Grandmoon......Not sure about the following, or whether the size of a "club" matters.
I think your organization should be Incorporated. And other official Requirements may need looking into, if not already done.
Is this requirement for the proposed building works at Council? And a loan?

Yes, the site I saw them on had loads of information about where to start, how to find what your obligations are, as well as state specific links and info. I'll have a look later to see if I can track it down, if I get a chance.
