Think again if you think lock downs are the answer.

Community spirit is the place for this. Although there are already many conspiracy theories there, so it might get lost in the crowd.
Given this is Australia, NOT Malaysia, that makes it even less relevant. Australia has policies in place that mean, generally, people don't starve to death. Your post is, at best, inapt.

I only saw Community...lol
I guess you haven't been to Malaysia recently.
Conspiracy theory ? Do you only 'count' the pages in books.

This 'fool' did. At least I don't pretend that happenings elsewhere have anything to do with here.
And it might be relevant to Malaysia, but we are not in Malaysia. The main takeout was that millions of people are starving to death in their homes. I haven't heard of millions of people starving to death in their homes here because they can't go out to buy food. Because they can go out to buy food and our government has provided billions of dollars to ensure they have the wherewithal to do so.

You're not exactly a board newbie, termalert.
I have never been to Malaysia. And it would be difficult to go there at the moment.
I also don't understand how you think this is relevant to Australia, or why you class people who don't subscribe to your paradigm as fools.
You could just as well have used the USA as an example; their government doesn't provide a lot of support, either.

Like the way the main thesis sentence slips past the key issue:
At what point should we draw a line in the sand and say that the economic and human impact that these partial or complete lockdowns are having is worse than the disease itself?
That should read:
At what point should we draw a line in the sand and say that the economic and human impact that these partial or complete lockdowns are having is worse than the deaths from the disease itself?

Actually, this is something I wandered about; how did all the people locked inside their multistory apartment building survive? The western governments and media has been attacking China every way they can, and there have been many people in the lockdown in China communicating with relative in the west, yet nobody has said they are starving. I imagine the government made sure that all these people got enough to eat.
What we have learned from China, Singapore, NZ and Australia on one hand, and countries like the USA and UK on the other, is that the sooner you lockdown, sooner will the infection be brought under control. Bit like if you chain a vicious dog; it is still going to attack somebody if they get too close. Bringing it under control, does not mean we can go back to normal. There never going to be what we consider normal, well, never might be bit too pessimistic, but certainly nothing will be the same in foreseeable future. The alternative is bodies in the streets and mass graves.

It appears that your browser is dysfunctioning and you have read some 'other' article.
I couldn't find any references to people starving in their homes.

Let's see how Sweden goes with it's 'Lock up the oldies and let the rest of the country carry on as usual' solution.
Shame it appears to be failing miserably so far.
So far in australia the flu has killed more people and that's WITH a vaccine.
