If all your credit cards, loans, and mortgage were called in and you had to finalize them all by the end of the financial year (30th June) where would that leave you and what would you do to pay your debt?

That would benefit our whole country rather than just a few big businessesOk lets get rid of all the temps and refugees on day 1. Now everyone has 29 days to pay their debt do you think the average person could repay their debt , even with full employment in tat period of time?
what have refugees got to do with 457 visas???

Hawk, I agree with some of your fiscal prudence views, but you and no one else here has addressed the question in the opening post.
I am very interested to hear how people would be affected and their solution to their problem.

Its not upto the people to fix it, its the governments responsibility to set good policies so all the people can live a resonable quality of life by creating an enviroment where they can find suitale and fair paying employment so they can Pay tax, spend money to create more jobs and so on.
Personally if I got a bill I would do as most people and laugh at it as a joke, when I found they were serious I think I would be selling up and moving all my asseets to some where else just like the big end of town has already done.

So poddster, please explain how all that money was spent on my behalf and for my benefit?
I did not give permission for the money to be spent on things the Government did, and I can not see any benefits at all. As a matter of fact I am worse off now.
Also, I don't have a credit card. Never had one. I'm of the old School. Save for what you want or go without if you can not pay for it.
Budgeting is an art no politician has ever mastered. They squandered the money, they should repay the debt out of their own pensions and entitlements. Left or right, they are all tarred with the same brush. Blaming a few needy people for the financial fiasco won't wash with me.

Rent, Gas, Electricity, Water, Council Tax (UK), TV Licence, Telephone, and the monthly Broadband charge for the contraption I'm typing this on. All debt in my eyes, so who can truly say they are debt free ?

Hawk the people ARE the country. just like any other entity the collective becomes one and that "one" can be held responsible for the collective.
The peoples of the country elected the governing body and previous ones to act on their behalf, by doing so they have relinquished their rights to act independently.
The country is in debt and everyone shares that responsibility

Well Pod, I paid power, council rates and water rates this morning. No mortgage, no credit debt and no loans. Apart from the paper bill which is not due until mid June I am at this moment debt free. 🙂
