Interesting...... on first look I agreed but looking further, I think Newman is wrong.

But I do think that at this time, all levels of government need to be doing everything that can be done to address this violence."
Mr Newman told Ms Gillard to stay out of the debate.
"It sounds somewhat spurious to me and completely unnecessary. I assure Queenslanders the matter is well in hand," he said.
It seems to be only in hand because one family has moved to the Gold Coast.

the news painted it as a race riot. it was basically a disagreement between two families one of which is now moving to the gold coast to get out of the area. I wonder if the word riot would have been used if the the participants were not Aboriginal or Islander, instead it would probably have been called a neighborhood dispute.
there was no comparison with this event and real race/gang riots which happen in other countries with guns etc, this seemed to involve a bit of biff, a lot of posturing and some insults. typical media beatup

I think it is disgusting that a key family involved in the "riots" is packed up and moved from "bad city of Logan" to beach side Gold Coast...
There are many good families that are left living in cars because they can't get public housing yet this lot can cause a mini riot and fight amongst themselves and be rewarded with a relocation.....
They have never found women in situations of domestic violence a house that quick.....
If the Federal Government wants to do something to help these families then do something to improve manufacturing and get more jobs that are accessible to people without a trade.... manufacturing jobs use to be the backbone of these communities now they have nothing....
We don't need more police we need more jobs.

we aren't looking like getting any job growth with $1.05. one part of the economy is strangling the rest. i cant see any future government putting the brakes on it either. victims of the success of a few. the greens are correct there.. they ought to pay a lot more.
the only sensible option was to relocate the families , not sure about the location though.

no.. the only sensible thing was for people to realise they have no right to behave the way that they did and shut up and go home...
To relocate them beach side is rewarding fools for bad behaviour....
I was stunned to see families out there with little kids...... not more than 7 yrs old maybe????
Disgusting.....

i dont disagree with that, but i know i can't always apply my standards to someone elses situation . i worked with men of both backgrounds , and i know the ill feeling is always there. i'm not really comfortable saying why i think it exists however.

Hmm, Gold Coast may not necessarily mean beachside in this case. There are plenty of suburbs in Gold Coast Council area which are nowhere near the beach.

I doubt that they will be anywhere near the beach. Pity, because that is where their ancestors lived until they were chased away at the point of a gun.
