Catholic Baptism question

My Granddaughter is to be baptised at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. As I am not a religious follower I would like to know if I am required to wear a hat and if trousers are ok or do I need to wear a skirt. My DIL said that it would be formal dress. In other words don,t let the side down. This woman knows her MIL 's poor dress style:^O

Yes they do and quite often look much nicer than some in dresses.

i wore dress pants to a wedding but the invitation didn't specify dress code. 

i hate those.  i would much rather be told what's expected.

Does formal necessarily mean a dress?

and I don't actually go to that particular Church Bright....... my grandaughter goes to the school and hence, the Church, on the grounds, for school related things.
