China: There is something morally disturbing...

...about congratulating a country like China on it's focus on wealth growth.

Particlularly given the country is facing economic and social destabilisation because of the fast growth. And the impact of China falling apart (economically) is going to have far reaching consequences than what occurred in the US.

And that is putting aside the environment of corruption that has skyrocketed beyond anything that China (or the world) has ever seen before. And it is interesting that Western countries like Australia look at the growth of cities as proof of wealth instead of what they really are - Ghost Cities.

Not sure if anyone saw the BBC program on 4Corners a few weeks ago but what a shame our PM didn't. Cause if he had he would be reconsidering his accolades.

Abbott only cares about money. There is nothing else in his world...no room for human compassion, environmental responsibility, equality or disability. Just money.

He is an ideologue. He believes in a market economy to the expense of everything else. Small government, make the rich richer, so they spend their money expanding and creating employment. He believes market demand should set wages, so in times of high unemployment wages will drop...and go up when employment is strong,

But everyone (except fools) knows the ideology doesn't work in Australia.

Wen bhp, telstra, big banks and big mines made billions, did they expand, create employment and help the community? No. They lined their own pockets, hired offshore staff and closed regional branches.

what was that he said?

But what I don’t think we ought to be doing here is playing to the gallery back home… I don’t really think we want to be getting a shock-horror headline 'The Chinese are coming' or something like that."

In 2012, as opposition leader, he said it would rarely be in Australia's national interest to allow a foreign government or its agencies to control a local business.

Now he concedes he knows a lot more about how business is done in China.
