Christmas meal 'slop' prompts outrage after being served to Adelaide nursing home residents

another example of where during a royal comission into aged care you would think those in charge of aged care facilities would have urgently had meetings of staff to 'get their houses in order' at least while the comission was investigating.

bake beans and mash isnt ok any time as a meal when the reciever is being charged for meals, quite different if the person makes it themselves in their own home.

to make the excuse 'it was a light meal' doesnt cut it, why does a modern facility even have tins of baked beans in their kitchen?

imagine if a retaurant served up that when a 'light meal' was requested.

so even though there is a comission investigating aged care they still dont get it, how could the person who created that delight and served it think it was ok?

Best nursing home around is the one in my town. The residents are treated like Kings n Queens, I have seen the food they are served and the choices they are given, it's excellent. They offer the same food choices in the hospital here and it's delish for hossie food.

Nursing home staff receive death and rape threats following Christmas meal post

the staff deserve to be chastised for the 'meal' they served but threats are just not ok!

those who make these kinds of threats should be found and exposed.

just because ya sitting in ya little safe space where no one can see you shouldnt give ya the right to mess with people.

I wouldn't necessarily be against baked beans being served in a nursing home, but to me it would be a matter of context. For example, for breakfast or lunch, it would be okay (to me) if the residents had a choice of maybe 3 or 4 options and perhaps baked beans on toast might be one of them. Would never be my choice but I do know some people who enjoy that.

On Christmas day though I think that should be a breakfast option only. It certainly isn't my idea of a festive lunch, I think it is really sad that a bit more effort wasn't made to make the day a little bit special for the older people.
