Classical Music Appreciation Thread

I love classical music, and I know the Countess likes it too. Maybe there are also lurkers who like it. 🙂

Anyway, maybe some will like to post classical music here (or listen to it).

You can post opera arias, piano recitals, orchestra concerts... - anything you like. Classical music is used in its broader meaning in this thread.

Please post links rather than embedding videos because sometimes the videos won't load.

Let's start...

Of course. 🙂

But before going to bed usually I prefer only music.

(I am not going to bed now. Night and day are an illusion in my life.)

You have probably heard many renditions of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata - or, to give it its most exact title, Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2.

But this performance by Annie Fischer is, to my mind, one of the greatest: faithful to Beethoven's intentions and immensely musical and intelligent.

Yes, it is a magnificent rendition - great both musically and emotionally. So many pianists play the Moonlight Sonata, and at first sight the first movement does not appear to be difficult, but to play it well is a real accomplishment.

I intended to post the Moonlight Sonata soon too. 🙂
