Very possible, but I would think we would have to run out of fossil fuels at some point. Personally, I'd rather see the use of it slow down, stretch it out and get a few more generations of use from it, by using other choices like electric when possible. When I found that movie "Who killed the electric car" on Youtube,I downloaded it, on another discussion board when I tried to find and post the link to it, It was not there anymore, I tried to upload it on my own Youtube channel and they blocked it. I managed to get some of it up on my channel, but I had to re film it from the video and load it in segments so it's kinda choppy.

Only drawback on building them or converting an existing gas car is, I doubt they are as effecient as those EV1s GM made, leased, then took back and crushed. Those GM EV cars could have going 300+ miles on a charge by now with battery improvments since 2001. GM bought controlling shares of the battery patients, then sold them to an oil company. Big surprize there. lol

The first horseless carriages were electric. The world would be a much better place if petrol engined cars hadn't been invented.

Benzene is the catalyst used to prevent petrol engines exploding. Octane is highly combustible, benzene is added ti slow the burn. For a period in time benzene was replaced by lead. Lead in the blood lowers IQ children raised next to main roads had lower IQ score so lead was banned.

Benzene is one of the most carcinogenic substances known to man. People are now smarter when they get cancer and die. Yeah, for intelligent corpses

Wow, I didn't know that about the benzene, seems I did hear something about why they stoped using lead in gas. You know what's really messed up alittle closer to home?, I have a 1991 Ford Ranger, just a little baseline truck I bought new in 1990. I took the 4cyl engine out and got rid of it with plans to put a v8 in there. Thats when gas was about a dollar a gallon. Found a wrecked 1995 Mustang GT and got the engine and transmission from that, bought all the stuff from a racing shop (Jeggs) to convert a Ranger over to a v8, the mounts, headers, ect.. Then I find out about all these electric car conversions,  and got the bug to do that with the Ranger instead.

So now, I don't know if or not to go ahead with putting the v8 engine in there, or hold off and wait until I can afford to buy a kit to make it a EV ranger. I sometimes see kits on eBay as cheap as 3,000.00 but with no batteries or bad ones. If I do it, I want to do it right with Lithium batteries. Plenty of room in the bed for them

Then theres those who use electric forklifts and golf carts as doner vehicles. so I guess it's very doable.

Joanie, A word of advice on lithium cells, their lifespan is 2-3 years even if they do not get used, so look forward to replacing then every 3 years ....Max.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

What about OShinksky's batteries?, they was poised to last the life of the car in the EV1s. Well, according to the film "who killed the electric car"

and do a google on LIPO fires and watch some of the utube videos

They are banned from commercial air craft due to risk of fire and explosion

If people want to save the earth try a VW Polo diesal 4.6L / 100km they will cause far less pollution than manufacturing and recycling batteries

I'm not saying that EVs should replace gas cars. I say lets have them both and let them both compete in the free market on equal terms. Give the people a choice of one, the other, or both. Make them both and put them on the sales floor, same production efforts and profit margins, Same promotion and advertisments, if they sell gas cars, sell the EVs as well, don't just lease them, recall and crush them like your afraid one is gonna stay on the road as a reminder that EVs do exist.

Could be a valid argument except for the fact that technology isn't stagnant and a new battery design could be around the corner. Just sitting around burning fuel will only achieve the complete use of a finite resource
