Council Cleanup/Hardwaste Collections

My OH loves 'em.
He piles all our junk on the nature strip and then takes a somewhat unhealthy interest in people stopping and looking over what's there. I tell him, if it goes, it goes. I don't care who takes it, scavangers or council workers.

I think it's his favourite time of year LOL

I find too, if people have sold their house and it is hard rubbish collection, they tend to put out alot of good usable items, that they dont want to take with them.

I liked to put stuff out early so anyone can pick it up. Some things went in 10mins, must be neighbours as we lived in a quiet street, eith low traffic. I don't like it when it rains in pick up week, as I won't put out good stuff (small furniture)if it is going to get ruined.

I live up a long shared driveway now, so I can't see the street and can't drag big items to the kerb either.

Our local council does 2 kerbside clean ups a year. They exclude a lot now - big furniture - lounge suites, wardrobes, matresses,
e-waste. Items have to be a size and weight one person can lift.

They are also going to have a drop off day for unwanted furniture and household items, pre booking essential. Must remember that as I have a few things to go.

I was annoyed that someone cut off the electric cord on a working clothes dryer we put out on the kerb once.

Our council has 3 men picking up, one driving the truck and 2 to pick up, they take anything, except building material, car radiators, tyres & paint tins. All refriderators have to have to door removed. They take matresses and most other things, they even take things the council says they wont take, if someone has it out.

We only have one a yr. our council takes in a huge area, takes them along time to do it all. So next march will be our turn again.

They have a cleanup for tree branches as living in the hills, there is plenty that come down, but they have to be a certain length and tied together, they come around in Nov. for that one.

We put an old electric oven out once. Someone came along and took out the interior light! I couldn't believe it! Probably would have cost them less to drive to the hardware store and buy it than cruise the streets looking for stuff LOL

lol,  you shouldnt have put it out then- you could have sold it, or gave it away to one of the charities.

last time I had a working tv to put out, so I put a sign on it 'works', and it went before the cord got chopped off.
