NOISY children have been banned from a Sydney shopping centre in a move that one parenting expert says reflects society's growing intolerance.
The Dee Why Grand on Sydney's northern beaches, which claims to cater for young families, has introduced its new policy following complaints about out-of-control children.
The notice from centre management reads: "Stop. Parents please be considerate of other customers using the food court. Screaming children will not be tolerated in the centre."
I wonder how far this will be taken? or is it not going to be enforced and the sign is just an attempt at placating shoppers?

If the problem is about kids running around why does the sign say screaming?
The sign should read " in the interest of safety please don't let children run around the food court." or "This centre will not tolerate children running in the food court"
Running around tables is not screaming

What if:^O
Simple..you buy him some new food. A 2yo is old enough to understand you will get him some new food. crying over split food, isn't the same as having a full on screaming tantrum.. when a kid doesn't want get her/his own way.

freaki - The problem is screaming (as in full mode tantrum) as well as running through the tables. Read the link in post 14.

Tantrums need to be ignored. There is no better way to deal with them.

FGS get over the running around the tables thing, ladies.
The subject is about uncontrolled child behaviour WHICH INCLUDES running around tables, up and down corridors, out in front of people AND UNCONTROLLED SCREAMING whilst BEING IGNORED by THEIR PARENTS.
OMG now I'm doing it myself. AAARGGH.

I'm with Amy, sounds like the centre manager making it up as she goes
Why the constant attacks on mothers? Every week we read whinging and bitching about mothers and half of it comes from other mothers. Why is it so?

So the mother attacker keep claiming.
I see attacks on mothers, any reason will do.
Kids are expected to act like mini adults and yet we complain about that too.
Mothers can't win. They are just fodder for any random bored writer these days.
If I'm with Grandkids I go to playground food court area.
If no kids I stay as far from Playground food court as possible.
I do not expect kids to be muzzled for the sake of my ears and I don't believe most kids are out of control.

Its only the feral ones people are complaining about
