They are quite clever lol kinda ugly but cute all at the same time.

I cut the waiste band off my old black tights and use it for hair ties, excellent for long hair ponytails. They are good for over the vacuum cleaner pipe for filtering stuff you've vacced up but may  have lost a small earring or dropped a sewing needle or pin that seems to have been eaten by the carpet. I've stretched them over a shaped coathanger to make a goldfish/yabbie net. 

Many, many uses 🙂

I have heard in the old days Panty, hose being used as a fan belt in a car.

I used to use them to tie up the tomatoes.

We used to put a tennis ball in them and bang 'em against a wall as kids. 

They'd usually end up in a tree, the roof or a power line
