Cricket broadcast rights are up for grabs

Cricket broadcast rights are up for grabs and it could mean we have to pay to watch at home

guess it'll be back to listening to ABC radio coverage and using my imagination.

Like you, I will be listening to the ABC. The commentators do a far better job than the channel 9 people.

Excellent.

I hate cricket and would love to see it off the TV.

At this time of year it's 11 stations that are mostly showing carp. 😞

If anyone wants to screen cricket but bury it on a TV channel I don't watch (like the ones that sell expensive junk) I'd be OK with that.

If they are not showing cricket they are showing tennis or golf or football or any one of the many sports that not everyone is interested in.

What annoys me about the sports being shown all summer is that they mess up the timing of all the other programs on the channel....nothing ever starts on time.

oh come on, your complaining about 'cricket' a real thing, real people playing a much loved sport and only on 1 station at anytime.

i agree, 90% of whats on free to air tv is absolutly carp. and thats ALL the time these days.

but why are you not complaining about the fact the tv stations are putting on so much drivel dressed up as entertainment?

never ending replays of the same movies and tv shows. or mindless 'reality' tv shows. cooking shows really bore me. as do home makeover shows and find a mate shows and i'm a celebrity (no your not) shows.

sure, crickets not your cup of tea and thats fine. golfs and tennis dont float my boat but i do know plenty of people watch those sports....and all the other weird and wonderful sports that get a run. no one makes me watch any of them, i get to either watch something else (some of the drivel) or put on a dvd.

OR not watch tv at all, go outside, listen to the radio, read a book, cook something, list some items on Ebay.

i'm not glued to my tv, i could prolly count the non sports items i constantly watch on tv on 1 hand.

its not just sport that does that, plenty of reality tv shows over run and IF the program after the reality show is what you are waiting for you can wait half an hour or more.

that silly IMV dancing show does that a lot.

My family are sport tragics and growing up (only 2 TV channels in those days) I had to watch tennis, AFL (VFL in those days) and cricket.  I disliked them all but nothing bored me to tears as much as cricket and it still does.  It's like chalk drawn across a blackboard.  Thankfully they weren't big on golf.

I don't watch the reality cooking, relationship and so called celebrity shows.  I will admit to watching the last bits of  makeover shows (who cares about the contestants) to see the end results as my father was an architect and I was also involved in building design to a lesser degree.

I don't listen to the radio since my favourite stations changed their music format but I do read all the time (real books - I've got loads of them) and I do craft.  I don't sell on eBay (and I never will).

TV is often background noise as I may be reading or on the internet but some of the time I like to have a program on TV that I can listen to and glance at at times.  The cricket and other sports go for hours and run over time which is annoying as there are late night shows I like to record.  If I could rely on TV programming I'd have more shows taped to watch instead of sport, but stupid sport programmes always take precedence and timetables are shot to hell.

I didn't bring up the other reality shows etc because the TOPIC was CRICKET.
