Cricket fans beware — Australia v South Africa ODIs won't be on free-to-air TV

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-11-03/cricket-viewers-in-for-a-shock-with-one-dayers-behind-paywall...

at a time when aussie cricket is at an all time low with the once die hard fans, removing games from free to air will be a real winner in the popularity stakes. NOT.

but we must accept, all the promises re sport being allways available to free to air were allways going to be broken.

this is just the begining, those in control want money and free to air doesnt deliver enough of it.

i will never pay to watch anything on tv, its TV, and if its not free i can live without it.

i'll listen to whats on radio.

btw, if everyone refused to pay it would return to free to air.

How to win friends and influence people...not! Put the cricket on pay TV...they have rocks in their heads..

I love my cricket but I am not paying to watch it on TV.

Like you, the radio will become my best friend. Usually the commentating is better anyway!

if its on radio i nearly allways listen to it and watch tv with sound muted, particularly cricket as the tv comentators (usually ex players with huge egoes) wanna talk about 'back in our day, not the game right in front of them.

read tubby taylor, warnie and healy

I hear that Tubby Taylor is having heaps of trouble trying to get his little toe into the cricket season again.
Suddenly has realised no one is interested in him since Channel 9 has lost the rights.

Kerry Packer, Richie Benaud and Tony Greig... I'm pleased (even though I miss them) that they aren't around to see this mess.

Well I watch the Cricket Channel on pay TV and it is brilliant. The coverage is excellent, the commentators comment intelligently on the cricket and they frequently have a female cricketer included which really adds to the variety and quality of the coverage. I don't pay an extra cent for the channel, it was automatically included in my package. In contrast, the free to air coverage is bombarded with repetitive commercials and some of the commentary drifts away from the game and focuses on old achievements, mainly by the commentators. If that's your cup of tea then fair enough, but I love my cricket and I think Foxtel has nailed it.
