๐ Since mine are duds
It wasn't laying yet .. we only established it was a hen yesterday, today it's gone.
I'm going to walk over there one day and take a look ....

Are your chickens young or old? They should be laying.
What breed are they?
If you want constant eggs, get an Isa Brown.

Are you saying the neighbour took it or it just got away... and then the neighbour kept it?
Mine are 2 Isa types? Highland highbred high something?
One was older when we got her, I thought the other which was one I first got when I started this thread was young when we got her? Ever since the move they have stopped. They had started to lay again the days before we moved. They don't like the city? ๐
2 fart eggs is all we've got since 5th Dec. Don't have the heart to chop their heads off and simply can't get anymore in the city. Small coop now anyway....

maybe they need a jolly good rogering or um roostering to get them laid or laying or um whatever again

I think if they wander into the neighbours yard they apply the "finders keepers losers weepers" rule. I've caught them before but now they've mooved the coop I can't really go look without accusing them and unless I know for sure I don't want to start neighbour wars.
Go buy some layer mash and up their food intake. They should still lay in the city. If they're Isa types they'll only lay for the first year.

Well there may lie my answer ๐
The food is a problem because all the scavenger birds eat it so I don't leave it out all the time now, no use, so I just feed them about 4 or 5 times a day plus bread / tomatoes etc.
impy you're hilarious ๐
DDU what do you do with yours when they stop laying? You can say, I know you're supposed to be able to chop their heads off

Mr Fox ensures that I don't have to face that problem :insert cranky fox hating face here:
I don't have a number / space issue so I will just let mine live out their lives with the others. If you're asking what you should do just put a "free" ad onto the local classifieds and someone will come and take them.

Yeah I guess I was asking that - bugger, not easy ๐
I had to give mr rooster away, same fate most likely happened to him.

It's a harsh life being a chook.
On an interesting (but good) note, my missing chook is back. So it's been missing for 2 days and the fox didn't get it. Very unusual ..
Unless it's been in the neighbours coop and my attempt to innocently look into their coop was a tad more obvious than I thought and they've hoiked it back over the fence ..
???

I think they hoiked it ;\
