DIET SHAKES & SNACKS ETC - what do you think

Over 12 months I have tried every diet shake and all the supplements advertised on TV as an experiment. I have included a gym regime of 1 hour every second day and also included a weight session 2 times a week. I have toned and lost weight.
I stopped the diet supplements 4 months ago and kept up the exact same gym regime however I supplemented the diet drinks etc with my own recipe.
The result is - the recipe I use is easier, much much cheaper, tastes heaps better and I have more energy than when I used the diet drinks etc advertised on TV.
This has proven to me that you don't need the diet drinks, supplements etc advertised, a little preparation which takes the same time to mix as the shakes in the packets is better, CHEAPER and you know exactly what you are using. I have my high protein, very low carb drink in the morning, I am never hungry until 1 or 2 in the afternoon and then only want something light.
The diet industry makes millions from people looking for an easy fix, I can honestly say from my experience doing it yourself is better, cheaper and even with a busy family is easier. I have also made a huge mix for 5 people in my family and we all have a drink with breakfast. Healthy for the whole family and a good start to the day. Imagine making up 4 or 5 of the prepared shakes everyday, would cost a fortune.

Would love the recipe if you're willing to share.

I'm not worried about losing weight, but I can't face eating solids in the morning, so have a protein shake - does get expensive.

I have a home made shake for breakfast, milk, low fat vanilla yoghurt and a banana. It is very filling and I am not hungry until lunch.

about 1 cup per serve, my measuring Is not an exact science, I am a bit of a Huey with my measuring but keep it fairly close. Must add I have lost more kilos using my own recipe than the shakes and I don' t need the snacks in between.

It' s all about marketing and praying on those most vulnerable.

You can also use dates or prunes  instead of fruit for a change

if she is willing to cut out bread, sugar or sugar loaded  drinks such as coke etc ( replace with equal or equivalent) only eat a little cheese and  cut out salty foods she  will lose more without feeling hungry.

i did and if I can anyone can, I now weight 65kilos  and feel great. The secret is having the high protein drink first up to take the edge off the hunger.

have not eaten maccas for 12 months and don ' t even want it.

That is a great idea Newstart.... the home made shakes are often much better as they have less sugary carbs....

I make a high protein muesli bars.... much better than the bought ones and you can alter the recipe to suit yourself.... when my son eats them his appetite is halved as the protein keeps the hunger in check.

I will post the recipe later if anyone is interested...
