A video posted online by a Dutch YouTube user yesterday shows the father use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the girl's hair before he slips on a hair-tie, which was strategically placed near the end of the nozzle, to hold it all in place.

The video has been widely praised online with one YouTube user calling the dad "Father of the year!".

However, one Reddit user has pointed out that the seemingly fool-proof system may not work for everyone.

"In theory this is a good idea for dads, but speaking as one with a daughter I don't think it would work well in practice," Billy Brooks wrote.

"I wouldn't have a clue where to look for the vacuum cleaner."
