NAE - that article relates to both losses.   The pilot who was lost out of Ulladulla (David Black) was reported to have been flying water bomb missions whereas Mr Brereton was transporting supplies to the firefighters.

Both huge losses Smiley Sad

Monman,, the Defence Force's deputy  acknowledged and apologised today for starting the fire.

The fallout from this is going to be interesting.

So, the defence dept admits to starting one fire.....5 children are being charged for starting some........

.....who or what started the remaining of the total 90+ bush fires, all burning at the same time,  in a 'cluster formation, along the coastline in NSW recently?

....rot and rhubarb that global warming hot spots occured here!.....why didn't the global warming event (to those that postulate that this was cause) occur further inland-where the grasslands, pastures and bush floor environ is much drier and denser???

Who said global warming events started the fires?

Did they not say climate change will increase the severity of bushfires?

Nobody has ever postulated that Global warming CAUSED any of these fires? Global warming does not Trigger bush fires, it creates conditions which make it much easier for them to be triggered and more intense and extensive when they are triggered.

NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner said in a statement published in The West Australian yesterday: "Never before have we seen the extent of damage and destruction and wide-scale fire activity at this time of year. It is indicative of unseasonably dry hot conditions that have been building now throughout winter and Spring."
