I guess being old means different things to different people and is relative to where you are in your life atm.
So what's so good about getting old?
Our life expectancies are raising, but is our quality of life?

Age is just a number, it's how you live your life that's important.

It's all in the eye - and age - of the beholder. When Iwas in my early fifties, I was making a cake one day and asked my then 5 year old grandaughter to get something out of the cupboard for me. It happened to be on the bottom shelf and she said sympathetically; "You can't reach down there, can you,Gran? That's cos you're so old."
Mind you, this was the same child who made her mum a Mothers Day card that read;
I love my mum,
She's got a big bum,
But that don't matter to me

Old is a state of mind, a mental attitude.
I have known "young" people in their 80 and 90s
I have also known "old" people in their 20 and 30s
"Old" is not depicted by the number of years that you have been in existence but by your view of your past experiences and how you have handled the adversity or achievement within those expierences.

My friend used to say
"you are only as old as the woman you feel" so old was never part of his thinking.
I don't know that getting older would be an adventage or have any more good points than being whatever age you are at the time.
We go through stages in life and every stage has it's ups and downs, enjoy whatever age you are now and appreciate every morning as a new beginning and be thankful you are alive.

I started to feel old when I came to the realisation that people born in 1995 are now old enough to drink.

5 Years ago I was 37yo and felt like I was 60+. Now I am 42yo and I feel like I am in my early 30's. Age is relative.

The only old people I know are people who have had a devastating health issue such as stroke however a healthy person of the same age still seems young even if in their 80s.
It seems that if you can remain active without the need for any aids then you will remain "young".
My mother is in her 80s and still mows the lawn but she says she can still mow because she is not hampered by any health issues.
