WAS GOING TO START this with the line ‘As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted’ but it’s not original and I have used it when I have been gagged before.

But honestly, now several hours out of prison and a long way from Langi Kal Kal, I  feel  too drained  and too emotional to start with a joke.

Even if I think my $100,000 fine and consequential fifty days in jail with some of Australia’s worst rapist-murderers was a sick joke.

For now, some instant impressions and recollections. I’ll have more to say when I go through the meticulous daily diaries I kept.

The ones the Intel investigators showed so much interest in when searching my cell, and taking photographs yesterday.

Some of these points I aired on Sunrise and at the media conference outside the prison boundaries when freed, after two early morning head counts and a strip-search, this morning.

I spent my first two weeks in custody in solitary confinement under maximum security in the same prison, same floor (and only cells apart) as the man who was responsible for my being there.

The low-life piece of   human flotsam whose name I will never mention again in public or on this blog. A man I will call JMK – Jill Meagher’s Killer.

I got a taste of how he spends his day being let out for only an hour of exercise in a small ground floor yard surrounded by high brick walls and razor wire.

The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002

The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (the Act) was passed on 11 October 2002 and came into operation on 1 January 2003.

Thats exactly my point. Hinch intends  to or is trying to make some income from his blog (as witnessed by the "advertise"

radio button) so he should not publish material re his incarceration now or his previous home detention.

Anything else he wishes to publish there then that's up to him.

If he publishes info about his incarceration and as well as subjects on his blog (or whereever, I don't read it) it would be hard to quantify what income he receives from advt (if any) would be due to proceeds from crime.

He probably does intend to publish a book in the future (including details of his time in jail), so will have to wait and see what happens there.

If he did not include any information on his blog regarding his incarceration or the reason for his incarceration (both of

them) and just blogged on any other subject then he would not have to quantify/justify anything.

IMO sometimes Derryn can be his own worst enemy

Regardless it's not to hard to quantify the potential worth of advertising on a website.

If he is not making anything from the blog then he will go broke pretty quickly.

He is a journalist so he will probably write about his time in jail and so he should.

He is a principled man who calls out injustice against children when he sees it and gets locked up for it. He has been a passionate advocate for a sex offenders register and if his writings can help in that then good on him.

I don't think he's driven by money or anything else.

To compare him to the criminals mentioned on here like Hicks Chopper and Corby is an insult. He's never murdered anyone, he's not a terroist or a drug smuggler.

I don't have a problem if he does profit but I can't see a lot of money in it for him and he would probably give it away to the transplant foundation anyway, hasn't he already said that?

In comparison to others who break laws , he is a criminal. It's as simple as that. His recent crime was not against pedophiles.

Did it mention any other place of publication other than his blog?

Personally I don't think Derryn is driven by the almighty dollar either.

The comparison was made not in regards to the severity of the crime it was made as a comparison point re the

proceeds of crime act.
