As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

No No No. Back to correctly phrased questions, because this one could cover any past Labor Govt, stinking or rose (red) smelling.
A3: "Did Labor appoint a 50/51 yr old High Court Judge..with 20 years service left to serve?
No. No. No.'
Suggested format: "Did Labor, Rudd or Poor Me, appoint a 50/51 yr old High Court Judge..with 20 years service left to serve during the Circus days?
No. No. No.'
Oops that is the forbidden history. Now we have a probable paradox.

"Consumer sentiment has fallen in April as people fretted about the economic outlook, even as they felt better about splashing out on big-ticket household items, according to a key index."
The real world, again. During the smelly Abbott tenure:
Like this:
Green is the 5 period moving CBA average under the malodorous Govts oversight.

The Abbott-Shorten disconnect
Bill Shorten has little incentive to change his tactic of laying low and letting the government muck things up.
Something intriguing is going on in Australian federal politics. Both the government and the opposition are under fire yet the opposition is comfortably ahead of the government in the polls. It may be just a case of the old adage that "governments lose elections, oppositions don't win them" but it is still disconcerting.
....The fact remains that if the polls tell us anything at all about public opinion they suggest that Shorten is doing something right, even if it is just laying low and letting the government muck things up. While the polls continue to show public opinion distributed as it is now, it will be hard to convince Shorten that he should change what he is doing. Who can blame him. Plan A seems to be working. He may have a Plan B but it will be very difficult to persuade him to reveal it at the moment.

the Libs have been pretty much behind in the polls ever since they were elected. I've never seen that before.
perhaps our thread monitor could do some research and find out if it has ever happened before

Please debra, you must stop quoting facts to "The Righties", it makes them all confused and addled. Some will even come back at you with a totally unrelated graph.
Or a breakfast recipe.

He was conned big time. Says he was mislead. Took their word about the content and trusted it was kept from him for reasons of embargo. He thought he could trust the govt because they're supposed to be basically honest.
