As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

"That's what happens when you don't read the informative articles posted in this thread and instead spend to much time in the past."
A3: " He hasn't been in the area he was in the last couple of days for 10 years.. coincidence he has a bike race at same time?"
Informative articles from , or partisan approved C&Ps. How is the Jakarta Post going, the Tehran based TVTimes, even the AIMN.?
Some might have merit, (i.e. Kohler, but even he got a story wrong recently as did those who repeated it here) however having no original input (thought) from the poster regarding nothing other than what has been copied, makes for something well distant from a normal debate.

Yep, still lost in the past and still pulling out old quotes to use against other posters, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over......

Yes, repeat, repeat, repeat.

If they are still publishing news, then they must be going pretty well.
50 Fairfax jobs to go, in my area (half of current staff).
Normal debate = posting personal siggies from donkey years ago, multiple repeats of the same images, and talking about CW (ceased to exist 5 years ago), made up names, in a thread about the current govt.???

That's one of the problems with a persons' not paying their taxes; after a while, they find they can't readily access the mental health services they so urgently need.

Totally flabbergasted. It appears that the GP hotline which services over 200,000 people has been axed. Together with the after hours hotline which services 50,000. You will now have to call your GP. But only if your GP has signed up to be called whereby they will receive a financial incentive to take your call. That is, if you have a GP. So the only outcome of this is going to be a flood of people to hospital emergency rooms.
I also discovered today too that home care to the aged has been cut. It means that for most of the elderly who are receiving in home care after a stroke or heart attack or just because their health is failing but they don't need to be in hospital, will now have to pay for it themselves. If they don't have the money, apparantly the Minister believes they should just sell their homes and move into an aged care home where they can be looked after. You know, all those extra aged care beds we have.
How anyone can support these cuts is beyond me.

The LNP are loth to seriously address the revenue side of govt and try to hide that fact by concentrating their rhetoric on expenditure.
They give tax breaks to those already wealthy beyond the dreams of most Aussies and they seek to cut essential social services to pay for it. Shame.

They pull out the stop the doggie shock jock show down to divert the attention, very successfully.

sorry to hear that Alexander, my MIL needed that home help for a couple of years before she went into a nursing home so I know how important it is. Some of the finer details of the budget are starting to sift through now, I didn't hear much about what was actually being cut on budget night.
