Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Maybe their wives didn't tell them: Joe Hockey defends ministers 'double-dipping' on paid parental leave payments

Treasurer Joe Hockey has suggested the wives of senior government ministers may have kept their husbands in the dark about whether or not they "double-dipped" with their paid parental leave entitlements.

And in an extraordinary interview, Mr Hockey has suggested his own wife doesn't always tell him about their household finances but did not say why.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-18/bernardi-revives-calls-for-changes-to-racial-discrimination-ac...

.

The Liberal Party senator Bernardi said that the budget had repositioned the Government.

"A Government that repositions itself — that determines priorities in accordance with mainstream community opinion — can do very, very well," he said.

"I'd like to see us visit section 18c. I think it's important for people, and very symbolic to remove the provisions — the very simple provisions — insult and offend

one good showing in the polls, and the ugly policies start appearing again because they think they can get away with it

watch out everyone!

I think it will get worse if they are re elected and let's face it that is the goal here and with no real alternative to government it's looking more likely.

Yes, really. Who else in this thread makes up a childish name with comment attached and REPEATEDLY posts it?

What do you think the posters/viewers here think when they read it/ see it repeatedly? That you are clever, witty?

c&p, kudos - not at all comparable to childish, made up names ( repeatedly posted) .

Downside effects of small business depn write off.

Joe Hockey's centre-piece budget plan to hand cash back to small businesses could be so popular it causes its own drain on the budget as unexpected millions scramble to take full advantage of the two-year scheme.

The Fairfax-Ipsos poll released on Monday showed 81 per cent of voters applauded the initiative and a sizeable 22 per cent intend using the accelerated depreciation provision also known as instant asset write-off.

That's great news for the struggling Abbott government politically but not such great news for the deficit-riddled budget as the 22 per cent take-up represents as much as a 19-fold increase of the estimated usage number in the budget.
