As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

The Australian Taxation Office has only one company in its highest risk category for tax avoidance – Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
Four years ago, 13 of the country's biggest companies were in Q1, the ATO's highest-risk category for tax avoidance, but now only News Corp Australia remains, reflecting what is described as a secretive, aggressive approach to the ATO.
As the only company with a high-risk rating, News Corp faces continual audits and reviews.
News Corp declined to respond to questions by The Australian Financial Review about its tax-risk status.

International fast-food giant McDonald's avoided paying half a billion dollars of tax in Australia over a five-year period by shifting profits through the low-tax nation of Singapore, a new report by a global coalition of trade unions says.
The report, which has been funded and commissioned by a coalition of global trade unions including the Public Services International (PSI) – of which the Community and Public Sector Union is a member - the International Union of Foodworkers (IUF) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) – looks at how McDonald's has used "aggressive" tax strategies to avoid billions of dollars in taxes every year.
i didn't realize McDonalds were also funneling through Singapore

Anyway so what?? who are you to judge. All I did was post an article from the Jakarta Post that had been printed, I did not personally write the article.
i don't need a defence
That is a defense, the defense of blaming another.
go back and find where I said I didn't know whether it was true or not, So just a copy because it appealed to your political bias?
You make a couple of my points e.g. : what is the point behind C&Ps without critical thought, and when presented with evidence contradicting a post, "blame" your source.
You did exactly the same with Kohlers incorrect assertion (and you were not alone)
I questioned it and it is on Kohler's Facebook:-

I think it was you Glee who mentioned Gillian Triggs earlier?? or was it Am?
too much nonsense to read back over to find it
Human Rights Commissioner Gillian Triggs: 'I'm not going anywhere' message for government
Australian Human Rights Commissioner Professor Gillian Triggs has sent a defiant message to her critics in the Abbott government: she is not going anywhere.
Professor Triggs told a conference in Canberra on Tuesday she was determined to see out her five-year appointment, despite the "horrifying" experience of her clash with the government over asylum-seeker children.
She said the political backlash against her inquiry into children in detention was the lowest point of her 47-year legal career but she was determined to see her five-year term as commissioner through.

Another excerpt from the link:
"The report, Golden Dodges: How McDonald's Avoids Paying Its Fair Share of Tax, does not allege illegal behaviour by the company, which is among several multinationals that have been taking advantage of loopholes in current laws."
And of course this Board excerpt:

at the time I posted the article from the jakarta post, we were also discussing the govt purchase of fishing boats from Vietnam - and it was further to the discussion , I said I don't know if this is true or not- didn't I??
in all of my posts I include a link to the whole article so that it can be read in it's entirity and people can make up their own minds about it I have never blamed 'a source" for writing anything however I find some sources to be so biased that they're laughable and I do not make it a habit of attacking posters for articles they post here - I am not pefect, but neither are you -
I do not search the internet for a few words or sentences from any un-unamed source to push the opposite political viewpoint to anyone
regarding what you have posted about Alan Kohler I will look it up myself as I do not trust ' a few words' that could be taken out of context. you have not shown him to say it was an error in your post anyway

ummmm..... in case you missed it.... the whole article is there to read in the link....., what I posted was the first couple of paragraghs, which show what the article is about
"nor do we pick a paragraph we like from an article without posting the rest of it"
any more criticisms???
I'm pretty sure I've had to point that out a few times to you
how else would you know what an article is about without seeing the first couple of paragraphs??
The problem with making a definitive statement is that there is generally no "wriggle" room if it can be shown to be questionable.
" the rule that any director on a government board who was appointed by the previous Labor government will not be re-appointed."
Ian Chubb.......................Chief Scientist of Australia.
Kim Beazley............... Australian Ambassador to the United States.
Elizabeth Broderick....... Sex Discrimination Commissioner.
Susan Ryan........... .......Age Discrimination Commissioner & now Acting Disability Discrimination Commissioner.
All of whom were previous ALP appointments and have been re-appointed by the Abbott Government.
Yes, someone else wrote the article which you posted earlier , it was shown to not be correct by the facts, but ostrich reaction here I remember!
I did not personally write the article.
