Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Not even close monman12.

"I'm not in favour of changing the flag, I've got to say," he said, unnecessarily. "Although I have to say that if the Commonwealth star was to be a 7-pointed star rather than a 6-pointed star, that's hardly a massive change. I would say that that is an evolution rather than a revolution."

What sort of PM does not know basic facts about the flag of his own country?

and Gleee here are some funny articles about the flags

http://www.sbs.com.au/comedy/article/2015/06/23/press-corps-terrified-abbott-puts-out-20-flags-annou...

The Canberra Press Gallery has expressed open fear as the number of Australian flags unveiled before a Tony Abbott speech rose to a new high of twenty. While the contents of the speech are not currently clear, some reporters feel that this may indicate a required level of patriotism unlike any ever seen before.

The flag metric for measurement of national security issue has become a handy guide for journalists and political observers to understand just how frightened they should be before a speech even begins

Tony Abbott considers changing the Australian flag. Turns out there's no point

Tony Abbott, as everyone knows, is a champion of the current Australian flag.

It comes as a something of a shock, then, to learn he is pretty relaxed about changing a bit of detail on it.

It comes as a greater shock to discover there's no point because he hasn't studied it in quite the detail you'd imagine - the detail that sits below the part that he seems most to cherish.

If he were to have looked at the big star below the Union Jack at any time in the last century or so, he'd have known how many starry, starry points it has.

"I'm not in favour of changing the flag, I've got to say," he said, unnecessarily. "Although I have to say that if the Commonwealth star was to be a 7-pointed star rather than a 6-pointed star, that's hardly a massive change. I would say that that is an evolution rather than a revolution."

Well, no. It wouldn't be any sort of change at all, let alone a revolution.

The Commonwealth star already has seven points. They have been there for some time

Cat LOL
